Don travers

Managing Partner

Don graduated from Queen’s University after obtaining his Juris Doctorate in 1972 before being called to the Bar in 1974. He has practiced in many legal sectors, including commercial and residential real estate, corporate law, commercial and bank financing, franchising, and wills and estates.

He is a community leader involved in numerous community organizations. He was elected to the City of Kitchener Council in 1979 and the Waterloo Regional Council from 1981 to 1989. In 1981, Don founded Travers Law (then known as Paquette Travers) and has been consistently practising for the last 40 years.

He served as Chair of the Finance Committee of both the City of Kitchener and the Region of Waterloo during most of his terms on the council.

When he’s away from the office, Don enjoys playing golf in the summer and skiing in the winter with his family and friends. In addition to these sports, Don takes pride in watching his granddaughters excel at their sporting activities, and he also makes sure there is time for walks with his dog, Buddy.

Bryan mayes

Partner

Bryan completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University and his law degree at the University of Windsor. Bryan was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015. He initially began his practice focusing predominantly on residential and commercial real estate and corporate law at a well-respected local Hamilton law firm. He has continued to develop a keen interest in these particular practice areas. Bryan proudly joined Travers Law in 2017.

Bryan currently focuses his practise on residential and commercial real estate law. He can practice throughout the Golden Horseshoe and assist clients in all aspects of real estate law. Bryan is aware of the complexities and nuances of real estate law. He understands the importance of thorough and thoughtful representation when entering into any agreement concerning real property. Bryan also practices corporate law and estate planning.

Bryan is currently a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Waterloo Law Association, the Halton Law Association and the Hamilton Law Association.

Outside of the office, Bryan and his wife, Nicole, enjoying taking their dog, Marv, for walks on new hiking trails and trying new patios in the summer. He is proud to call Cambridge home and has resided there since he started at Travers Law in 2017.

ROBERT A. SHELDON

Partner

Robert completed his undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS), his Juris Doctorate at the University of Windsor and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013. While at Windsor Law, he was the recipient of the 2011 Scotiabank award in Trusts and achieved the highest standing out of the 2011 University of Windsor Mediation Services Clinic interns.

After a distinguished career in public service, Robert decided to hang out a shingle and opened Sheldon Law, practising real estate, wills and powers of attorney and corporate law in Guelph, ON, with much success. In July 2022, Robert merged Sheldon Law with Paquette Travers (now Travers Law).  

There are three cornerstones of Robert’s practice: dependability, respectfulness and faithfulness. It is these tenets that drive his practice. Legal services must have value. Legal services must address your needs. And legal services must revolve around you. Providing an efficient experience that addresses your needs is his top priority.

When not closing real estate transactions, Rob spends much of his free time with his wife, Ashley, their two sons, Rohays (“Ro-Ays”) and Lachlan (“Lock-Luhn”), and two dogs, Kinch and Leo. To stay active, Rob enjoys running and rock climbing in Guelph, where he and his family have resided for the last ten years.

TIFFANY YIM

Associate Lawyer

Tiffany joined Travers Law as an Associate Lawyer in 2021 after being called to the Ontario Bar in 2020. She completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science at Western University before attending Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto for her Juris Doctorate degree. There, she developed a keen interest in real estate law, corporate law and wills and estates. After graduating, Tiffany articled for the legal department at the City of Mississauga, where she gained experience in both litigation and solicitor work. From drafting pleadings and prosecuting by-law infractions at the Superior Court of Justice to reviewing commercial leases and Planning policies, Tiffany is a well-rounded lawyer that brings knowledge, perspective and experience to the practice of residential real estate and corporate law at Travers Law. Tiffany understands the value of collaboration and strives to find the best results for her clients.

Outside of law, Tiffany leads an active and adventurous lifestyle and enjoys the challenge and thrill of competitive sports! Every year she participates in the Run for Women 10K marathon. She is also passionate about animal welfare and occasionally volunteers with local animal rescue organizations by fostering animals.

Having spent most of her life west of the GTA, Tiffany looks forward to serving her clients throughout the regions of Halton, Waterloo and Wellington! She and her husband, Ben, recently moved to the Milton area, and when they’re not out walking their dog, Sofie, you’ll probably find them discovering one of the many hiking trails in Halton region.

BARRY PAQUETTE

Counsel

One of our team of outstanding legal professionals, Barry, was called to the Bar in 1972 and had been practicing at all levels of the Ontario Courts including the Court of Appeal and Divisional Court.

Barry is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Family Law dealing with divorce, custody, support and property.

A current member of the Collaborative Family Law Association of Waterloo, Barry has also been vice-chair for Anselma House, a home for abused women and their children and a member of the Board of Directors for Big Sisters.
